Final Portfolio

Artist Statement:

We have all heard the question, “When a tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound?” Ask yourself this question, ‘Why did that tree fall over to begin with?’ You are probably stopping yourself and thinking of all these random scenarios that going through your mind of how it could of fallen over. That is the point of the photos. It is to make you come up with your own stories with these pieces of nature, and why it is the way it is today. With this portfolio, making up your own scenario is a way of making nature fun and looking at it in a different light.
Besides trees and plants, wild life have stories as well.  In zoos, how did these animals end up in captivity? Some humans say to themselves, “Is there more to this life I live?” I question whether animals in captivity ask themselves that same question. “Is there more to life outside of this cage?” Do they dream of big and better adventures, just like humans do? What do they think about during the day while hanging out at the zoo, besides food, or where their toys are at.
Ever since I was a young girl, I have had a fascination with asking questions and knowing how things have come to be and using my imagination to make up stories for different scenarios if I don’t have the answers. With nature, we don’t always get a response. When we do, the stories that you hear are what makes nature even more beautiful. When we don’t get an answer, thinking about what their stories could be, adds their own sense of mystery to their beauty. When looking through these photos, have fun with it. Never underestimate the power of your own imagination.
